Animals

Mouse trap line: 7

Snowfall: 14” (way low for this time of year!)

Anything out there??

Huck….”What did you say?”

Charli-one of the warmest spots in the cabin. She’s the smart one!

Huckleberry and Charli continue to bring us joy and aggravation…I swear they act like siblings!  Huck turned two this month and is turning into a really good dog.  Too smart for his own good sometimes, but is learning to behave and come quickly when called.  This last summer he acquired a new skill…..although he is a full-blooded Korelian Bear dog, he has also turned into quite the Squirrel dog!  The squirrels are pretty destructive on wiring, etc.  so we try to keep them at bay.  He’ll hear the squirrel when he’s outside, then come to the window by my chair and look up because we keep the .22 hanging over that window.  How did he figure that out??  At times I can shoot like Annie Oakley and sometimes they’re so fast, I can’t hit them to save my life.  It’s quite the game for him and keeps him entertained when he’s not warding off bears, moose, or anything else that might be lurking around!

Nova and new pup Huck

Do we even like each other??

We had to put Nova down this summer…

If you remember, she was the 100 lb Malamute that we took on with the property when we moved here in 2022.  She was old and it was time but that didn’t make it any easier….

Hate to leave on a sad note so maybe this will make you smile….

Christmas 2025

It seems as though we never have enough firewood so we are constantly out in the woods cutting, stacking, splitting …..you get the idea.

Last week, we decided to find a Christmas tree so we cut down a 100’ blue spruce, cut the top off for this year’s tree and chopped the rest up for firewood.  It’s skinny and quirky and we love it!

With that, I’ll go for now and be back soon. In the meantime, stay wild!
