8.10.22 (Wednesday)

The plan this morning was to drive the trail into town for a dry run.  We have to drive in tomorrow to get Kevin to meet the train to go to Fairbanks for work.  So what happened? The weather happened!  It ended up being 70 degrees, blue sky, no rain, no wind, it was absolutely beautiful!  I did some stuff inside and Kevin did some stuff outside, then I found myself sitting on the porch swing for hours and found my “happy place”.  Kevin was driving the four-wheeler around the property checking things out, making plans, taking note of future projects, etc.

We were both so happy just hanging out we didn’t want it to end.  So we decided NOT to go into town and just enjoy ourselves for the day.  A well-needed rest for sure!  He shot at a squirrel that was trying to reek havoc at Ruth’s cabin.  Not sure if he killed it.  It may have climbed back into the rafters and died.  I may have to find it later…ugh

We did take a four-wheeler ride around some of the adjacent property on the trails Orville said he’d made when he was dragging logs around during the winter.  Pretty cool!  We saw moose sign and Kevin saw some bear sign below the house on what looked like an old trail with a couple of old bridges on it.

The place is starting to feel a little more like home.  Once we get rid of the totes and get a little more settled, we’ll see.  He leaves tomorrow and I’m a little nervous about that but probably not as nervous as I should be… lol

I’ll be plenty busy while he’s gone working and will try to sort through everything we have here so far.  The plan is for him to get a buddy or two with snow machines to help haul up everything we left behind at the storage units and get ALL of our crap up here so that we will be totally self-contained.

We’ll see what happens!
