Measurable snow YTD:  1.25" + pending, as we speak!

Mouse Trapline Tally YTD:  9

Update to the frozen water issue mentioned in yesterday's post....SUCCESS!  We were able to strap a 35 gallon water tank to a freight sled (the same one that helped us to get the generator up the hill from the train tracks).

Then we filled it from the spring, pulled it back up the hill and wah-lah!  Got all empty containers filled.  Just like magic!

We've been doing some deep-cleaning around the main cabin.  Things were so crazy when we moved in this summer that we didn't get the chance to clean before everything started happening.  So slowly, we've been taking it room-by-room and making it our own.  It feels so good to know that the only dirt in the house is your own!

Kevin decided to attack the wood cook stove in the kitchen.  The transformation was amazing!~  Here's what it looked like when we moved in..

Here's what it looked like when he was done with it...

I've slowly been learning to cook on it so the natural next step seemed to be to make breakfast!  Here we go...

Hashbrowns..

Bacon...

Eggs...

Then put it all together for the final product.  Pretty tasty!  I'm learning that it is a delicate dance to cook on the wood stove.....figuring out which burner is the hottest and rotating as needed, based on what you're doing.  It's actually fun!  I look forward to later this winter when we get the oven cleaned out and I can conquer homemade biscuits in it!

Woke up to heavy snow this morning.  It was so cozy and quiet we decided to sit out on the front porch with an oil lamp....

It's barely past 10am, I'm guessing more than 6" on the ground and it's still coming down....

Will keep you posted!
