Happy St. Patrick's Day!
It's been awhile....We've been getting visited by some local wildlife...Earlier this month, after a fresh snow, we found moose tracks all around the house. It came from the back of the property, circled the entire house, went down the trail and destroyed the neighbor's gate. An ornery one, I guess! It must have passed through during the night. We never saw it.
Then a couple of nights ago, Kevin heard crunching foot steps in the snow outside the house about midnight. By the time he got out there with his gun and light, whatever it was was gone. The next day we found bear prints the size of Kevin's hand. It had come up the trail from the railroad tracks. They are apparently coming out of hibernation already...
Our neighbor, Ben, sold his four-wheeler and needed us to help him get it into town earlier this week. Since there's snow on the trail, he built a sled to pull it on but his snow machine wasn't strong enough to pull it. We estimated 600+ pounds? So we hooked it up to our snow machine, he followed with his machine pulling our sled, and we were off!
