Snowfall:  104.00" (8.66 feet)

Mouse Trapline Tally:  9

(Total to-date for this year!)

It's been awhile....I know.  You know how things can get over the holidays!  We celebrated Winter Solstice on 12/21...Not because it's that big of a deal to us other than NOW WE START TO GAIN DAYLIGHT AGAIN!  YEAH!  As of today, we're only up to 5 hours and 33 minutes of daylight.  Before the 21st, we were down to just 5 hours.  That makes for a pretty quick day!  😅

We spent a pretty quiet Christmas with just the two of us.  Kevin got a wild hair to move the generator from the shop up to the barn.  Not a big deal, right?  However, as it turned out, moving day was only a balmy 2 DEGREES!  Here's the original location...

We had to unbolt it and wiggle it over to a sled...

The new location is prepped and ready....

Heavy things are MUCH easier to move in the winter.  Here he comes!

He drove the snow machine right up into the barn with the sled behind him...

Mission accomplished!

Next on the list...we got a puppy.  Trust me, I had absolutely nothing to do with this decision.  It was all Kevin.  In the end, I have to admit, he's pretty darn cute...

We named him Huckleberry.  Nova is not quite sure what to make of him yet, but she's been pretty good with him...

He's fearless, that's for sure!  I guess that's a pretty good trait for a bear dog! 😏

Right before Christmas, we got a call from Kevin's daughter, Sandi.  She was going to visit her daughter in Fairbanks so we made arrangements for them to come visit.  Meet Sandi and her daughter, Isabelle...

Although we've talked to Sandi several times over the years, he hadn't seen her in several years and I'd never met her.  So this visit was totally awesome!  He hadn't seen Isabelle since she was 3 months old and she's 18 years old now.  They spent a week then Sandi decided to head back to southeast Alaska.  Izzy has decided to stay with us for awhile and finish her schooling.  We're so blessed to have her and look forward to getting to know each other...it was a sad day when we put Sandi on the train...

That was Saturday.  After Sandi left, Kevin, Izzy and I decided to visit our neighbors, Brad & Sarah.  After the visit, we asked them to come over Sunday morning for coffee.  Invitation accepted...then coffee turned into more people coming over and that turned into breakfast.  It was fun!  After some of the neighbors left, I was walking around the barn with Sarah and Kevin was somewhere with Brad.  One of the kids ran up to us and said that their puppy, Chewy, had FALLEN INTO THE OUTHOUSE!  Yep, INTO the hole in the outhouse...Don't ask and I won't give you all the details.  Let's just say that the rescue was a rope lowered down the hole, looped around her foot and a bath followed shortly after.  Fortunately, most of what was at the bottom of the hole was frozen and it was 30 degrees so the bath was a quick one.  Never a dull moment....

Stay wild!
