Snowfall:  144.50" (12.04 feet)

Mouse Trapline Tally:  10

(Total to-date for this year!)

Hello again!

So I believe we have turned a corner as far as the weather is concerned!  The highs have been in the 30's the last few days and the snow is melting fast!  Don't get me wrong, we're not out of the woods yet.  We got 3" of snow in the last two days.  Last year I tracked 1.5 feet just in the month of April!  But we are loving the warmer temps and can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

We have been relaxing quite a bit the last few weeks.  I bought a new tortilla maker and found a new flat bread recipe...

The cast iron flattens them like a pancake and they turned out great!  Success!

We've also been entertaining grandkids....we had Clayton for a couple of nights...

And the next weekend we had Illeana...

Papa Kevin tries to keep them entertained outside and Grandma Tammy tries to cover the inside.  Illy insisted on make peanut butter cookies...

They turned out great!

When we dropped her back in town with her folks, we decided to wander around town and came across this ice sculpture in the park...

I think it was left over from some event last month.  Whatever it was, we thought it was pretty unique.

The new pup, Huckleberry, continues to thrive.  He's about four months old now and 29 lbs...

He was starting to outgrow his kennel so we decided to make him a new one out of things we already had around the place...

A few hours later, using some scrap wood, bars from an old shoe rack and a discarded garden umbrella that were left here when we moved in, and wah-lah!  He loves it!

We had to go into town today because we had completely run out of dry food for the animals, among other things.  Although we seem to dread going into town more and more, once we get on the trail, it's all good!  It was sunny and closing in on 40 degrees.  The trail is getting pretty rough so others have created a side trail parallel to the main one and it's much smoother.  Kevin has been trying to get me to get on it but I'm still learning the snow machine tricks and I've felt uncomfortable up to this point.  But today, I stretched out of my comfort zone and did it!  Yeah!  On the way back, we decided to stop and have a picnic...

Maybe I'm feeling a bit philosophical at the moment....but you know, life is so short.  Why don't we take more moments like this to enjoy what God has given us?  Just a few minutes every day.  Living the lifestyle we have chosen this past year, it's not easy.  If it was easy, everyone would do it, right?  But I find that almost every day, I am doing something that stretches me, that gets me out of my comfort zone and I'm growing because of it.  I don't know how many other 60 year old grandmas are living this kind of life, but I like it.  It brings peace and joy.  And what more can a person ask for?

Until next time, stay wild!
