Hello again!
Happy belated Valentine’s Day! Isn’t the woodland heart picture cool? Picture shared from our new neighbors at their cabin. Each of them thought the other one did it only to find out it was a God thing!
Things have been in motion in our neck of the woods! Since we last “talked”, we had grandkids from Talkeetna for the weekend….

Clayton & Papa Kevin
We baked cookies, rode snow machines, had a bonfire, watched movies….it was fun!
Then our neighbors, who had been staying in our spare cabin while they fixed theirs up, decided to bite the bullet and move into their cabin. Kevin helped with some of the moving…
Making the Clampetts proud….
While fixing up their cabin, the neighbors decided to get rid of some stuff. We were blessed with a new, used cookstove for our spare cabin…
All it took was a little elbow grease!
And a old wood cook stove! Isn’t it adorable? Again, a little elbow grease and stove pipe and wah-lah!
Esther
We put her in the spare cabin also to replace the stove that was in there. Years ago we named the wood cook stove in the main cabin “Myrtle”, so this is her sister, “Esther”…..I know, just work with me, will ya??
We’ve not gotten the snow this year that we have in the past, but we do still get dumped on periodically. Recently, we enlisted a friend that lives close to town (he actually camps by the river in a tent made of tarps and wooden pallets), to get the snow and ice off our car in the parking lot when we are headed to town. We pay him, of course, and are so grateful for the help!
In the spirit of talking about snow, the first winter we lived at this place (2022), Kevin’s dad, Everett, came up to visit. It happened to be during a blizzard that was so bad, the airport closed down right after his plane landed. Kevin headed to Anchorage to pick him up in our 4-wheel drive pickup and barely made it there and back. On the way to Talkeetna, the heater went out on the pickup so they could barely see through the windshield, not to mention the white-out conditions! Everett had never been on a snow machine before and Kevin was still pretty green on it but they headed out of the parking lot toward home, pushing snow all the way. In the meantime, I waited for them to show up…
Waiting….it was torture!
And then suddenly, there they were!
Finally! Now I can breathe!
They made it! That was the year we got 30 feet of snow and they were wearing several inches of it when they finally arrived…
I will never forget the look on Everett’s face…I think he was in shock! Haha
The cool thing about this story is that it didn’t scare him off! He’s been back since then and is coming up again to see us next week! We are so excited!
So I guess I’ll sign off for now. We are keeping busy this winter making homemade goods that we eventually hope to have for sale on this site. We are also working on creating a logo that we plan to have put onto sweatshirts and stoneware coffee mugs. Hope you like them! In the meantime, stay wild!
