Mouse Trapline Tally:  7

(Total to-date for this year!)

Checked my expanded traplines today.  Nothing new...Is that a good thing or a bad thing??

The weather is definitely turning cooler.  With all of the rain the last several weeks and some wind, the leaves have started to fall off the trees.

This particular trail goes out the back of our property.  I nicknamed it the "Enchanted Forest Trail".  It's fascinated me ever since we moved in.  No matter how green the leaves are on the trees, or even now when they're falling, it looks like it could lead to somewhere magical....I don't go up it, though.  It actually is one way to reach our neighbor, Ben.  But Kevin assured me there are bears up that way and I don't feel the need to check that out!

By the way, I find it funny that whenever I do see any of our neighbors on the trail, they are always asking me if I've seen any bears around the house?  I keep telling them "no" and they always seemed surprised.  I'm told that the previous owners didn't seem to be too careful about how they disposed of their food so they always seemed to have them around here.  Apparently, I've re-educated them that this is no longer a drive-thru snack shop.  Score! 😅

Bernie and I did drive into town this week so that I could run some errands.  The trail is still full of water in several spots but they do seem to be receding some.  The weather looks as though it may hold out the next several days so I may be able to make a couple of trips to town to bring more stuff back from storage.  The sad part is, Bernie went south on the train today for the season and won't be my trail buddy until next summer! The train was scheduled to come by around 4:45p, so he planned to be out there by 4:00pm, just in case.  I drove over to his place to chat and see him off.  As it turned out, they didn't show up until almost 5;30p so we had a good visit.  His place is so cute and now it's all boarded up against the harsh weather and any potential critters.  I promised we would keep an eye on it for him this winter and send pictures to show how deep the snow gets!

Exciting news!  Kevin says it looks as though he may be able to come home the first week of October.  I can't wait!  Not sure what that looks like logistically yet, but we'll figure it out.  He may have to rent a helicopter and get flown out if the train isn't running that day and the trail is a mess.  Stay tuned!
